Perfect Pairings: Delicious Drinks to Pair With Your Oyster Bar

Whether you are hosting an intimate or extravagant celebration, what your guests will remember is the care and experience they receive. When planning the perfect event, every detail matters, especially when it comes to pairing the right cocktails with your oyster bar. Luckily, we have you covered. As event catering experts, here are our top picks when searching for delicious drinks to pair with your oyster bar for your next party.

Champagne

If in doubt, reach for the bubbles. Renowned for its effervescence and elegance, Champagne is a classic drink to pair with freshly shucked oysters at any event. The bubbles in Champagne add a textural element that contrasts nicely with the smooth, silky texture of oysters.

Bloody Mary Oyster Shooters & Micheladas

As a party caterer, the best way to spice up any party is with Bloody Mary shooters or Micheladas.

A Bloody Mary is a mix of vodka and tomato juice with citrus and spices added, and the garnish options are endless. Serving an oyster with a Bloody Mary shooter, will be a hit – we promise!

Meanwhile, another refreshing way to start the festivities off for your guests is with a Michelada. Take a cold crisp lager, pour it on ice and add your Bloody Mary mix. The hot sauce, tomato juice and citrus, combined with beer, is surprisingly one of the most refreshing drinks around and the bubbles and tomato juice complement oysters to perfection.

Negroni Sbagliato (With Extra Prosecco)

A Negroni Sbagliato is a variation of the classic Negroni cocktail. The word "sbagliato" means "mistaken" or "wrong" in Italian, and the story behind the drink is that it was created by accident when a bartender mistakenly used sparkling wine instead of gin while making a Negroni.

One thing that we learned throughout our event catering careers is that the perfect match for the oysters is a Negroni Sbagliato (with extra prosecco of course!). The bubbly, not-so-sweet and lightly bitter drink perfectly pairs with oysters for a complementary combination of flavours.

Classic Martini

Traditionally made with just two main ingredients: gin and dry vermouth, as lovers of oysters, we always suggest a Classic Martini as a pairing to freshly shucked oysters. With olives or a lemon twist as garnish, you can’t go wrong here.

The martini's clean, crisp flavour and the botanicals in the gin, particularly the juniper notes, perfectly compliment the briny, fresh taste of oysters.

As event catering experts, the versatility of these pairings will surely excite you and your guests. For more information, read our other blogs and check out our Pinterest Page. Also, don't forget to follow us on social media for interesting wedding or engagement party ideas.
